excerpts from
"(In The Wake Of) HOME "
and
"TWO"
at
Jewels in the Park
Union Square, San Francisco
Wednesday Sept. 17, 2008
6-8pm
Sarah Bush Dance Project innovates modern dance with hip hop and covers territory from physical space to the internal space of “feeling at home” in one’s self, in relationships, in space and time and in the world. SBDP uses folk to electronic music and visual images to illustrate and parallel the variety and differences in human experiences and emotion around the places and states we call HOME.
"...a modern dance bellwether."
- Nirmala Nataraj of SF Weekly
"Sarah Bush kicking ass with the choreography."
- Margaret Cho, comedienne

A constant through Ms. Bush's work is the expression, emotion, and humanity in the dancer's performance quality. The company explores issues of identity, gender, and sexuality within the broader themes of love, relationships, loss, power and empowerment.
Sarah Bush Dance Project works successfully at making the art of dance accessible to more and more communities and types of people by performing in locations as diverse as the company's style-everything
from parks to nightclubs to churches as well as the traditional theater environment.
